On September 23, 2021, a selfless and brave firefighter passed away in the line of duty. According to an interview done with the Detroit Fire Commissioner and reported by Dearborn Michigan local news, “Shayne was a stellar example of the selflessness and dedication our firefighters demonstrate each and every day on the job.”
In honor of the one year anniversary of Shayne Raxter’s death, Governor Gretchen Whitmer has ordered all state and US flags in the state capital and local buildings to be at half staff from sunrise to sunset on September 23, 2022. Please join in the remembrance of this man’s life and legacy by lowering your flag at home, as well.
