On August 10, 2022, during a routine traffic stop, Officer Seara Burton received a gunshot wound to the head. She heroically fought for her life for upwards of five weeks before succumbing to her injuries and passing away on Sunday, September 18, 2022.
In honor of her life, legacy, and sacrifice, Governor Eric Holcomb has ordered Indiana flags to be flown at half staff from sunrise to sunset on September 26, 2022. According to WTHR local news, the family is sincerely thankful for all the love and support the community has given them. Please join in supporting the family and honoring officer Burton by lowering your flag to half staff.
