In the South Carolina code of laws, section 53-3-165 designates the third Friday in September of every year to be designated a day of remembrance of POW and MIA service members. The White House issued a proclamation remembering all POW and MIA service members and their families, and pledging to continue seeking answers for the lives lost.
In accordance with this, Governor McMaster has ordered all South Carolina flags to be flown at half staff from sunrise to sunset on September 16, 2022. Join in honor of those who have been lost and not yet found by lowering your flag, as well.
