Gov. Andy Beshear has ordered flags at all state buildings lowered to half-staff today, Dec. 9, in honor of a Kentucky soldier who was killed in the Korean War but whose remains were only identified in August. According to the Tristate Homepage, "72 years the family has waited for answers, closure,” explained Todd Matonich, Rolling Thunder Kentucky chapter 5 president. “For us to be here, it’s very humbling but it’s a very honoring show of respect. the feelings and emotions are indescribable at times.”
Army Pfc. Robert A. Wright, 18, of Whitesville, Kentucky, died during combat in July 1950. Pfc. Wright will be interred Friday in St. Mary of the Woods Cemetery in Whitesville.
